  • Something clever about Rome

Submitted by formerly adam on February 7, 2014

I was trying to come up with something clever about Rome and forums for the title of this post, but its Friday. I'm not clever on Friday. Anyway, our website now has forums.  We plan on using forums to post information and instructions related to projects like our EBL trial. Our goal is to collect all of the key information about current projects and organize it in one place, so you don't have to sort through emails and things like that. Also, you'll notice that you don't have to log in to view the forums. Unlinke some other online forums, you can't create your own topics (for the moment at least), but you can add comments.

We will continue to use our email lists for communicating directly with members of working groups and committees.

Let us know if you have any questions or suggestions.

  • Divide and Conquer

Submitted by formerly adam on January 31, 2014

On Thursday, January 30th, the Evergreen team met to begin working toward our first project goal, creating the criteria that the team will use to evaluate Evergreen. After some administrative chores and a brief question and answer session the team divided into subgroups, management, workflows and user-interface, to start the real work of the day. The task of each subgroup was to generate a list of key features and functionality for our ILS as seen from one of three user roles.

The next step in the process is putting these lists online for review and edits from group members. We will review the lists at our next meeting to discuss priorities of features - what has to be included, what we hope to see in the near future, and what would be nice to have eventually.

  • There was a good turnout and lots of enthusiasm at the first FLO Evergreen Team meeting.

After some brief introductions, we started by discussing how we got to where we are - starting to conduct an evaluation of the Evergreen ILS system in the context of the future direction of FLO. We discussed the goals of the team, our project timeline, and some milestones that we'll reach along the way. The team divided into sub-groups which will continue evaluating Evergreen from the points of view of three different user roles (Patron, Staff, and System Management). The sub-groups will meet in two weeks to begin compiling a list of key features as a basis for the evaluation.
